Keyes Elementary School

Before School (B4School)...

- Regular school days

- Available to all TK-5th grade students at no cost

- Students arrive between 6:45-7:45 am

- Safe and supportive environment

- Enrollment form required - available in office or in ASP

- Attendance based on family need

After School Program (ASP)...

- Regular school days

- Available to all TK-5th grade students at no cost

- Starts when school day ends; open until 6:05 pm.

- Safe and supportive environment

- Time and space for homework

- Activities to enrich learning

- Supper program offered

- Enrollment form with required - available in office or in ASP

- Attendance based on family need

Intercession Days...

- During school breaks, such as Winter Break or Spring Break

- Open from 7:30-5:30

- Attendance days and times based on family need

- Lunch and 2 Snacks are provided

- Combination of academic learning and creative exploration

Summer Program...

- During June

- Open from 7:30-5:30

- Attendance days and times based on family need

- Lunch and 2 Snacks are provided

- Combination of academic learning and creative exploration

Spratling Middle School

- Available to all 6th-8th grade students at no cost

- Starts when school day ends; open until 6:00 pm.

- Safe and supportive environment

- Time and space for homework

- Enrollment form required - available in office or in ASP

- Attendance based on family need

Program Policies and Funding

Early Release Policy: We recognize that families may have specific needs for early release from the program. KUSD’s Expanded Learning Programs will encourage students to participate from school dismissal until 5:00pm or later. Early release may be granted prior to 5:00 under the specific circumstances outlined below:

- - ER-1: Participation in a parallel program (i.e., sports, dance, religious education classes, etc.).
  - ER-2: Medical, dental, or counseling appointments.
  - ER-3: Family Obligation, Custodial Matters, or Family Emergencies.
  - ER-4: Sent home from the program due to injury, illness, or behavioral issues (with parent/guardian notification).
  - ER-5: Safety or transportation considerations.
  - ER-6: Family Needs.

Behavior & Discipline: Our goal is to help students understand and learn from their behavior while keeping the program safe for all participants. When harmful or disrespectful behaviors are repeated, or in the case of physical altercations, our discipline steps include Incident Reports to parents, 5-day suspension, and 60 day removal from the program. Funding: The programs at KES and SMS are provided free of charge to enrolled students, and are funded by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) grant and the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) apportionment. More information may be found at www.cde.gov.

Program History

For more than 20 years, our program has been dedicated to providing enriching opportunities for growth and development to TK-8th grade students at KES and SMS, at no cost to families.
