Message from the Superintendent:

The Keyes Union School District currently has an enrollment of 1,275 students, including charter schools. The district serves the Keyes community, as well as parts of Ceres and Turlock. Schools within the district include Keyes Head Start program and Keyes State Preschool program, Keyes Elementary School (K-5), Barbara Spratling Middle School (6-8) and the Keyes to Learning Charter School (K-12).

The district is located in Central California in Stanislaus County. The unincorporated city of Keyes, with a population of 4,575, is off California State Highway 99, located between the larger cities of Ceres and Turlock. The population is slowly growing, with new housing coming into the area.

As the Superintendent of the Keyes Union School District, I am proud to serve alongside a dedicated group of individuals who not only believe in the potential of every child but act on that belief. The Keyes Union School District is committed to providing students a quality, balanced education that promotes academic excellence, a positive learning experience in cooperation with the home and community, while developing positive self-esteem and social skills necessary for maximizing their life-long potential.

Academic achievement continues to grow in KUSD, as evidenced by tremendous gains in our Academic Performance Index (API) scores. In August 2006, scores released from the California Department of Education indicated the district earned the highest gains in API scores in Stanislaus County. Keyes Union School District offers students numerous opportunities to excel academically, participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, and master the necessary skills for college, career, and lifelong success.

We welcome campus visitations by parents and community members and encourage strong parent involvement throughout all of our schools. Keyes Union School District employees, working in collaboration with county officials, public and private agencies, business leaders, service clubs, and parents, are committed to providing the best education for the youth of the communities we serve.
